District 5 – Fletcher Looks to Defend

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , , .

Fletcher ran the table in the regular season and the district playoffs last season.  They took an 8-4 district final over Providence after the two teams played an OT game in the regular season.  But their reward for that was a first round matchup with state semifinalist Ponte Vedra in the FHSAA first round.

Last season’s Regular Season records via MaxPreps (Note: possibility not all results were uploaded):

Right now it looks like another 2-team race unless Mandarin can narrow the gap from last year.

Coach Brian Theiss gave us this insight:

What are your expectations this season for the team?

I’m excited about our upcoming season.  A huge part of our offense is returning and our entire defense returns.  I expect us to compete for a district championship.

Who are the returning players who will make a difference this season?

Attack – Jr – Guy Bistrow (89G/40A), Goal – Jr Brandon Stuckey, (150 SVS /.595 SV%), LPM 8th Grader – Luke Lowery (65 GBs)

What players do you expect to step up this year that didn’t get much playing time last year?

I expect Sophomore Nick Stone and Junior Koel Johnson to have huge impacts on the field.

What are the games you are really looking forward to this season?
