#19 Lions Find Success as They Pass By #24 Colorado Mesa with a 13-7 Finish

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The #19 Saint Leo women’s lacrosse team back to winning ways after victory over #24 Colorado Mesa 13-7.

The Lions now move to 7-2 after pulling away in the second half to seal off the game.

In the first quarter, it was Senior Ashlee Wilsynski who started the scoring for the Lions a few minutes into the game from a free position attempt.

Colorado Mesa fought back however taking a 3-2 lead into the second quarter.

It was once again Wilsynski’s time to shine as she put the Lions back level with the Mavericks.

The game was tied at five goals a piece heading into the halftime break.

A certain trend continued in the third as Wilsynski wrapped another one into the back of the net to give the Green & Gold the lead.

The Lions began to close the game off as they headed into the fourth quarter with a 10-6 lead.

The fourth quarter saw Saint Leo only concede one goal as the finished on top 13-7 over the Mavericks.

The leading scorer for the Lions was Ashlee Wilsynski with four goals.

Junior Fiona McLaughlin was close behind as she finished three of her own goals.

Freshman keeper Jessica Harclerode continues her fantastic start to her collegiate career with a 13-save performance and her seventh win of the season.

Up next, the Lions continue at home as Frostburg State comes to town and the two teams meet up at University Turf Stadium with the game scheduled for March 23rd with the draw at 1:00pm.
