#4 Keiser Women’s Lacrosse Closes Out Three-Game Week with 14-5 win over Siena Heights

No. 4 Keiser women’s lacrosse erased a two-goal deficit in the first quarter before running off 13 straight goals and taking a 14-5 win over Siena Heights.

First Quarter
Keiser 4, Siena Heights 3

  • Talia Myers put the Seahawks ahead early with a goal just after three minutes passed in the game.
  • Siena Heights responded with three consecutive goals to take a 3-1 lead with 6:32 on the clock.
  • Sydney Passaro broke the run of the Saints after a find from Madison Andrews.
  • Samantha Esher passed up her free position attempt to feed Abbey Cannon who found the back of the net with ease to tie the game with 3:32 to play.
  • Myers gave the Seahawks the lead going into the second with a bouncing shot that put KU up 4-3.

Second Quarter
Keiser 8, Siena Heights 3

  • Andrews needed less than a minute to start the scoring in the second putting the Seahawks up 5-3.
  • Chloe Foley got on the board with 10:24 remaining in the second extending the Keiser run to five in a row.
  • Emily McCall ended the quarter with back-to-back goals on similar plays to give Keiser an 8-3 lead at the half.
Third Quarter

Keiser 13, Siena Heights 3

  • A slow start to the third quarter had Hayley Frew scoring the first of the period with 9:07 left in the third.
  • Following a failed clear, Myers was left one-on-one with the keeper and after a quick fake, found the back of the net to put Keiser up 10-3.
  • Esher tallied her second assist on another free position attempt, finding Cannon again who made it 11-3.
  • Milena Isturiz took the ensuing draw control and ran the length of the field for the 12th Seahawks goal with 3:33 left in the third.
  • MacKenzie Gibaud showed her best Tim Duncan impression with a hesitation spin before firing in her first of the day to put Keiser up 13-3 going into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter

Keiser 14, Siena Heights 5

  • Gibaud doubled her total on a perfectly timed cut to give the Seahawks a 14-3 lead with just over nine minutes left.
  • The Saints would score two before the end of the game but it would not be enough as Keiser would hang on to their 14-5 win.

KU Highlights

  • 28: The 28 groundballs were the most for the Seahawks as a team this season.
  • 7/5: Rebecca Gibson tied the record for most caused turnovers in a game with seven while also leading the team with five groundballs.
  • 7: Keiser has won the draw control battle in each of their seven games this season, outdoing their opponents, 127-69.
  • 6: Myers totaled six draw controls to lead the team in the category for the third time this season.
  • 4/2/2: Cannon led the way for the Seahawks with four points on two goals and two assists.
  • 3: Myers tallied her third hat trick of the season netting a team-best three goals.
  • 3: Esher was the top facilitator on the day with three assists. 
  • 3/3: Margaret Wroe started the game in the net recording three saves and her third win of the year.
