A Great New Platform! FLN to Partner with the Varsity Sports Network!

It might not quite be ‘One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind’ but it certainly feels a lot like it for the lacrosse community in Florida and how much more content this can mean for all of us. We are finalizing the details contractually and hope to have that in place in the next week or so.

Varsity Sports Network is a 24/7, 365-day online network of channels (16 in all) that currently specialize in high school sports, with college content also covered. It geographically blankets the state and has the production capabilities FLN can utilize to substantially leverage the amount of coverage as well as the variety of approaches. From studio interviews to live games to even the Florida lacrosse version of the NHL Tonight (a live studio broadcast with cut-ins to games around the state) . . . all possibilities that take the coverage of our great sport to a level that the lacrosse fan will devour.

Here is their Home Page:

They cover just about all the sports in the state and because of the 16 channels they have the ability to localize when appropriate and deliver a statewide broadcast when desired. If you tune in to one of the channels today you will likely see that given we are not in the school season.

For those who would find this platform advantageous to advertise their commercials on, you can note by clicking on their Partner page that there is a nice mix of both statewide and locally targeted advertisers and I’m sure our lacrosse demographic will find this a great way to leverage advertising budgets.

I have already spent a day in Orlando, where their main broadcast/production facility resides and was impressed by their capabilities; frankly beyond what I even had hoped for. I taped a 7-minute segment that will be part of their monthly update show and that will be out before the end of the month, so we’ve hit the floor running. The staff is top-notch, professional, creative and fun to be around.

An added benefit to working with them is that they have an agreement with FAU’s broadcasting facilities, making it much easier for FLN to produce our content for them.

As you can see, we are excited to take this to the next level and bring all of us a platform that makes the sky the limit. It will also mean we can bring you the regional content that covers the game so well around the state, like Tampa Lax Report, @LaxNorthFl, Lacrosse in Naples and many others that we interact with all season long. All in one place.

It’s going to be a great ride!
