College Choice

Swarthmore College

Why did you choose this college?

I was initially drawn to Swarthmore because of its focus on undergrad teaching and small class sizes. It is a great fit for me given the academic subjects that I am most passionate about. In addition, Swarthmore is a top feeder school for the graduate programs and careers in which I am interested. Productive conversations with several of the girls on the Swat lax team only strengthened my interest in the college. To top it all off, Coaches Borbee and Krannebitter have been amazing to work with. They have been nothing but supportive since the very beginning of the recruiting process. I could not have been more excited to commit to the ED admissions process!

What Advice Would You Give Those Starting the Recruiting Process?

Always take a holistic approach when looking at different schools. Make sure that you could see yourself being happy at that specific school with sports aside.

Who Would You Like to Thank for Getting You to Here?

I want to thank God for having a plan for me and I want to thank my family for supporting me as I fulfill that plan. I am grateful for my Berkeley coaches Emily Amell and Leeann Passaro and all of the time and energy they have invested in me. Thank you to my teachers at Berkeley for challenging me in the classroom. Finally, I want to thank my brother, Jimmy, for being a great role model, but more importantly, my best friend.

What are your first memories of the sport?

My dad used to take my brother, Jimmy, to the local fields to play catch and shoot. I always remember inviting myself to tag along. I would mostly run around the field with no sense of time or direction, just goofing around with an old boy’s stick in my hands. Once I tired myself out, I would flip over the ball bucket and use it as a stool to sit on while observing my dad and brother at play. I was probably about five years old.

What is Your Favorite Memory From Your High School Career?

My favorite memory from my high school career is when my Berkeley Prep team won the district championship for the first time in school history. It was a remarkable feeling to hoist the trophy on our home turf. I can’t imagine sharing that moment with any other group of girls. It is something that I will truly never forget.

What is Your Stick Brand? And Why?

I play with an STX Crux stick. I have used the STX brand ever since I first started playing lacrosse and it has always delivered. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Which Lacrosse Player Do You Most Want to Have a Meal With and Why?

I would without a doubt choose Ryder Garnsey to have a meal with. He has a slick, smooth presence on the field that makes him incredible to watch. He is so deceptive with his finishing and I would want to talk to him about how he trains that skill.

Do You Watch College & Pro Games and What Are You Watching for to Make You a Better Player?

Although I am definitely a Redwoods fan at heart, I enjoy watching all of the PLL teams as the talent in the league is just insane. I am mostly watching for creativity and fresh new moves. I love seeing the players throw in levers, shovels, and no-look passes. Watching the game being played at such a high level helps my lax IQ and gives me ideas of new skills to work on.

What’s Your Go-To Meal After a Game?

A nice sweet potato noodle bowl with chicken and veggies from Fresh Kitchen is definitely my go-to meal after a game.

What’s the One Thing Your Teammates Would be Surprised to Know About You?

I love classic rock music. When I have my headphones in before a big game I am listening to Boston and The Who.
