Duggan and Pani Lead Stetson Past Merrimack

DELAND, Fla – The Hatters beat the Warriors 14-11 lead by Jessica Duggan’s seven goals and Kaitlin Pani’s six goals.

The first quarter started strong with the Hatters opening the score from a strike by Kaitlin Pani at the 14:29-minute mark. After some back-and-forth action and a goal by Merrimack, Pani struck again for her second goal leading the Hatters 2-1. In the closing stages of the quarter, Jessica Duggan scored with a fierce strike, making the score 3-1 Stetson after one quarter of play.

The second quarter saw a great team effort offensively as Jessica Duggan and Kaitlin Pani both completed hat tricks, comfortably leading the Hatters 6-2 at the 8:32-minute mark. As the quarter ended, Pani and Duggan added to the Hatters’ lead, making the halftime score 8-3 Stetson.

The third quarter saw the Hatters continue to add to their lead as Samantha Paglino, along with Pani, and Duggan all contributed to the scoresheet, closing the third quarter with a 12-3 lead.

The fourth quarter required a strong effort from the Hatters as Merrimack scored seven consecutive goals to pull within three. In the end it was not enough as the Hatters were able to hold off the late effort by Warriors to win 14-11.

The Hatters will be back in action on Tuesday against Saint Francis (Pa.) at 11:30AM. The contest will be broadcast on ESPN+.
