The month of May in NCAA college lacrosse usually means a push for the post-season. Teams are preparing for conference championships with the hopes of reaching Memorial Day weekend. This is when the NCAA holds their lacrosse championships. Championship Weekend will be played at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
This year, four former Scots will begin their trek to Philadelphia. Those four players are Alex Newhouse ‘15, Brandt Guldin ‘15, Conlan O’Hara ‘16, and John Staten ‘18. All were a part of Saint Andrew’s 2015 team that made a run all the way to the FHSAA Final Four in Coach Tony Seaman’s first year at the helm.
Alex Newhouse is a member of the class of 2015. Newhouse is a senior faceoff man at Union College in Schenectady, New York. He is studying Biomedical Engineering. Newhouse has garnered many accolades while at Union, earning spots on both the Liberty League All-Academic Team as well as being recognized for his play on the field the last two seasons. Newhouse found many similarities between his experience as a Scot to his at Union. “If our fate is anything similar to my senior season at SA, we should continue playing well into the NCAA tournament.” This will be Alex’s first trip to the NCAA Playoffs. Union will host SUNY Cortland in the opening game of the NCAA Division III tournament at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 8.
