Belen Jesuit Honors Late Westminster Christian Captain Last Night

Last night Belen Jesuit traveled to Westminster Christian for a Tuesday game and came away with an expected easy win.  But the real story of last night had nothing to do with the final score but the ceremony held after to the game. For those readers who missed the story, Westminster captain Lucas Alvarez died in a boating crash prior to the season: https://www.floridalacrossenews.com/sad-news-westminster-christian-captain-lucas-alvarez-dies-in-boat-crash/   The Belen lacrosse community, headed by Head Coach Alan Bellando, presented a special jersey to Westminster, with #6, Lucas’ Westminster uniform number.
Our lacrosse community in Florida always looks to take care of their own, as we have seen so many times over the year.  Pockets & Sockets, JM Strong, MSD Strong, Sticks for Soldiers, Western High’s Shoe drive, Immokalee’s Irma aid, and so many more. Add another to the list of why we NEVER should take guff about our sport from anyone.
