District 5 – Fletcher Looks to Defend

  Fletcher ran the table in the regular season and the district playoffs last season.  They took an 8-4 district final over Providence after the two teams played an OT game in the regular season.  But their reward for that was a first round matchup with state semifinalist Ponte Vedra in the FHSAA first round.   Right now it looks like another 2-team race unless Mandarin can narrow the gap from last year.   Fletcher High 16-8, lost in the FHSAA first round Unfortunately Fletcher has not yet returned their questionnaire, we’ll post it when received.   Providence School 12-6, lost in the district final Coach Brian Theiss gave us this insight: What are your expectations this season for the team? I’m excited about our upcoming season.  A huge part of our offense is returning and our entire defense returns.  I expect us to compete for a district championship.  
  Who are the returning players who will make a difference this season? Attack – Jr – Guy Bistrow (89G/40A), Goal – Jr Brandon Stuckey, (150 SVS /.595 SV%), LPM 8th Grader – Luke Lowery (65 GBs) What players do you expect to step up this year that didn’t get much playing time last year? I expect Sophomore Nick Stone and Junior Koel Johnson to have huge impacts on the field. What are the games you are really looking forward to this season? Our guys always look forward to playing Fletcher, they’re our main rival with the distance between our schools being so close.   Mandarin 7-8, lost in district semifinal Head coach Henry Montgomery weighs in: What are your expectations this season for the team?
