  Here’s the results of yesterday’s Florida college action:   Florida Gators Women March 13th – Gators Fight Until Very End, But Fall to No. 4 Syracuse Excerpt: GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 16 Florida Gators gave No. 4 Syracuse an incredibly tight battle on Wednesday night, but ultimately fell to the Orange 14-13 in the final eight seconds of the game at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. Lindsey Ronbeck led the offense attack for the Gators, recording five goals against the Orange. Grace Haus followed with five points of her own, pitching in two goals and three assists on the night. Read the rest HERE   Rollins Men March 13th – UPSET! Tars Take Down No. 20 Colorado Mesa, 12-8 Excerpt: GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (March 13, 2019) – History repeated itself as the Rollins men’s lacrosse team upset the nationally-ranked Colorado Mesa University Mavericks for the second straight season.  The Tars took down the No. 20 Mavs by a final score of 12-8 on Wednesday evening at Walker Field, winning their fourth straight and advancing their record to 5-1 on the season.  Colorado Mesa shoulders the loss and drops to 3-3 on the season.  The Rollins win snapped CMU’s 20 game home-field win streak, with their last loss on their home turf back on February 20, 2016 when the Mavs lost to Westminster by ascore of 7-12, and marks only their sixth loss in program history on their home field. Read the rest HERE   Rollins Women March 13th – No. 7 Rollins Wins Seventh Straight; Defeats Wingate, 16-6 Excerpt: SPARKS, Md.  (March 13, 2019) – The Rollins women’s lacrosse team rolled to their seventh-straight victory on Wednesday morning at Tierney Field, defeating Wingate University by a final score of 16-6.  The win leaves the Tars perfect on the season with a record of 7-0, while the Bulldogs fall to a mark of 2-5. Hannah Ashton led the way with five goals and an assist for six points on the day, followed by Paige Brock with five goals of her own.  Kallie German netted two goals and two assists, while Sammy Ottimo had her best game to date as a Tar with a three point performance as she scored two goals and added an assist. Read the rest HERE   FSC Women March 13th – Bannatyne’s Four Goal Night Leads Moccasins to Fifth-Straight Victory Excerpt: LAKELAND, FL – Riley Bannatyne records a season-high four goals as Florida Southern College women’s lacrosse picked up its fifth-straight win. The Mocs (6-1) opened on a 3-0 run over Slippery Rock (1-2) in route to a 20-7 victory. Florida Southern’s offense was led by Bannatyne with four goals while freshmen Brenna Smith added on another three. Julia Couch and Sarah Grady also added a pair of goals each while nine more Mocs found the back of the net. Read the rest HERE   FSC Men March 13th – Winwood’s Overtime Goal Gives Moccasins Third Victory of 2019 Excerpt: LAKELAND, FL – Florida Southern College men’s lacrosse senior Liam Winwood gave the home crowd a night they will not forget as he put the winning goal past the Westminster goalie with 3:17 remaining in extra time. The Mocs (3-3) scored three unanswered fourth-quarter goals to send the game to overtime against the Griffins (1-2). Sean Nolan once again led the Mocs with three goals, while Carson Wallace had a pair of goals and nine others also found the back of the net for the Mocs. Read the rest HERE   Saint Leo Women March 13th – 11-Goal Run Earns Women’s Lacrosse 8th Straight Victory; No. 25 Saint Leo Downs Young Harris 21-11 Excerpt: SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 25 Saint Leo women’s lacrosse team broke out an 11-goal run in the second half to clinch the program’s eight-straight win in a 21-11 decision over the Young Harris Mountain Lions. The regional game moved Young Harris’ record to 3-3 while the Lions stayed perfect at 8-0. “Kaci Archer kept us alive in the first half,” commented head coach Caitlin Hansen. “We started to find our rhythm in the second half and she was still contributing then too. She even won draws for us too, so, getting a complete game from a freshman is awesome. Read the rest HERE   Saint Leo Men March 13th – Heartbreak in St. Louis as Maryville’s Last Second Goal Upsets No. 18 Saint Leo; 13-12 Excerpt: ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 18 Saint Leo Lions suffered a 13-12 loss to the Maryville Saints, who received votes in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national poll. Maryville clinched the nationally-ranked win slinging the game-winner with seven seconds left in regulation. The Saint Leo Lions overcome a slow start to tie the game at 12 in the fourth quarter after Maryville took a 5-2 lead after the first quarter. Philip Buque spearheaded the comeback efforts with seven goals taking nine shots. CJ Stowell helped with a pair of goals. Charlie Kurtenbachfilled out the stat sheet with a goal and an assist, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
