via FSC press release   BOX SCORE LAKELAND, FL – Offense took control early in Florida Southern College women’s lacrosse victory at Catawba. The Mocs (3-1) cruised out to a 17-0 halftime lead over the host Indians (1-3) on Thursday afternoon. Florida Southern’s offense was led by Marina Jozokos who found the back of the net three times on the afternoon. Five different Moccasins recorded a pair of goals, while another ten tallied a goal. HOW IT HAPPENED • For the second time this season the Benedetto sisters teamed up for a goal. Fourteen seconds into the game the younger Benedetto fed to the ball to her older sister to put the Mocs up 1-0 and began an 18-0 run. Jozokos recorded all three of her goals (unassisted) in the first half, including the third to close out the scoring of the first half. Grace Glinecki scored her team-leading 10th goal on the season at the 18:58 mark of the first half. The Mocs converted four of seven free position shots for goals. They also picked up a man-up goal by Dani Bursinger and a man-down goal by Molly Berend. Florida Southern led Catawba 17-0 at the half. • The Mocs continued the scoring brigade with a goal from Gracie Maganzini at the 27:43 mark of the second half. Catawba would find the scoreboard for the first time on the afternoon as Erin Green found the back of the net. Green’s sister Colleen Green added another goal for the Indians at the 21:45 mark. The Mocs would close out the second half with goals from six different players including a man-up goal from Abbi Harrah off a feed from Lizzy Lynch. INSIDE THE NUMBERS • Florida Southern improved to 3-0 all-time against Catawba. The Mocs have won all three meetings as the visiting team. • With another goal on the day, Glinecki brought her season total to ten goals. Brittany Iamele made no saves on no shots faced in the first half, freshman goalie Patricia Werker made two saves on four shots in the second half in goal for the Mocs. • Florida Southern picked up 23 ground balls to 11 by Catawba. The Mocs won 18 of 27 draw controls and converted 11 successful clears on 14 attempts. • The Mocs held the Indians to a single shot in the first half. The is the first time since they held Chowan to no shots in the first half during the 2013 season. UP NEXT • Florida Southern will continue its North Carolina trip at Wingate (March 8), and Queens (March 10). FSC will return to Moccasin Field on March 13 vs. Slippery Rock.
