via FSC press release   PUEBLO, Colo. – The Florida Southern College women’s lacrosse program has been named one of the Top 10 Programs that Inspire, according to a release from the College Athletic Advisor. FSC is one of three Division II programs to make the list, coming in at No. 8. Southern was joined on the list by Division II foes Adelphi (No. 2) and West Chester (No. 5). Division III Middlebury (Vt.) topped the list, as FSC was the only Sunshine State Conference school to appear. Founded in 2012, the women’s lacrosse program won the NCAA Division II national title in 2016, and twice finished as the national runner-up, in 2017 and 2018. The Mocs became the first team from outside the states of Massachusetts, New York or Pennsylvania to win an NCAA Division II women’s lacrosse championship. Kara Reber is the only head coach that Florida Southern College women’s lacrosse has ever known. She was named as the NCAA Division II Coach of the Year in 2016 by both Inside Lacrosse and the IWLCA. In its nine years of existence, the program has a record of 141-29, a winning percentage of .829. In all, 24 IWLCA All-Americans have worn the red and white. “It is great to be recognized amongst such highly competitive, talented, and long-standing tradition of great lacrosse programs while we are entering our 10th year as a program,” stated Reber. “We are appreciative of being awarded a ‘Program that Inspires’.” According to College Athletic Advisor, these holistic program rankings are open to all 4-year U.S. collegiate level programs sponsoring each sport outside of NCAA Division I. Rankings are based on a subjective assessment of student experience in four areas:
  • Holistic development of student-athletes in the institution
  • Academic achievement & support for the academic success of student-athletes
  • Overall college experience for participants within the program
  • Affordability/Graduation Rates/Student Satisfaction
