via JU press release   CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A senior captain for the Jacksonville University men’s lacrosse team, Eric Applegate was selected by the Florida Launch as the 47th overall pick in the 2019 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Collegiate Draft, Saturday evening at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. A First Team All-Southern Conference selection last season, the Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. native was also named to the 2017 SoCon All-Tournament Team and the 2016 SoCon All-Freshman Team. One of six team captains for the Dolphins this season, Applegate has recorded multiple points in all six of Jacksonville’s games this season, including four-point performances against Duke (Feb. 9), Michigan (Feb. 23), and Drexel (Mar. 2). Leading the team with 11 assists in 2019, Applegate currently ranks second in program history with 118 points, is tied for third with 57 goals, and his 61 assists are just seven away from tying the program record. Applegate joins a recent influx of Dolphin players drafted to the MLL, including 2018 picks Hunter Forbes (Atlanta Blaze), Ryan Beville (Florida Launch), and McLean Chicquen (Dallas Rattlers). He is also the seventh Dolphin in program history drafted to the MLL, along with Cameron Mann ’13, Duncan Clancy ’14, and former Dolphin Tom Moore, who finished his collegiate career at Binghamton.
