King’s Academy 2019 Cameron Stovel Commits to UMass-Lowell!

Congratulations to Cameron on his college choice and good luck in the future!   Name Cameron Stovel High School King’s Academy Graduation Year 2019 College Choice UMass Lowell Club Affiliations Ninjas, FCA South Florida, Florida National, FCA National, Aces, Nexstar     Why did you choose this college? It was the best fit all around. My family and I were talking and it was a perfect fit with the financial part, education and to have the chance to play division 1 lacrosse. What are your first memories of the sport? A family friend’s son played lacrosse and we were over for a barbecue. I was in 2nd grade and he was showing me the sport and in my head I thought ” This looks like the dumbest sport. I will never play this”. Fast forward to 8th grade and I went to one random summer workout for lacrosse. Later that school year the coach at the time asked if I wanted to play Varsity. I said no at first because I never played but a player convinced me to play. What part of the process was most surprising to you about the recruiting process and what would you like to pass on to those who are going to face it in the future? What surprised me the most was how every little thing you do in front of a college coach can help you or hurt you. My advice is to present and sell yourself in every way, keep your grades up because it helps in every way, and do not give up. Who would you like to thank for helping you get here? I’d like to thank Coach Van for putting me on varsity in 8th grade because that helped me develop so much. I’d like to thank Coach Webb and Coach Ray for the hours spent developing me not only as a player but as a man and a man of God. I’d like to thank my brother for always letting me play football and other sports with his friends even though I was 5 years younger cause that helped a lot. Lastly, I want to thank my parents for the money and time they spent to help me get this opportunity
