Lynn Women’s Lacrosse Adds to 2020 Roster

  via Lynn press release   BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University head women’s lacrosse coach Mindy Richmond announced the signing of six more players for the 2020 inaugural squad. Victoria Wysocki-Christ, Mackinsey Hamer, Danielle Farinas, Sarah Shaffer, Genevieve Clemens and Madison Park make up the third installment of incoming women’s lacrosse recruits.   Victoria Wysocki-Christ Freshman | Goalkeeper Navarre, Fla. | Gulf Breeze HS As a three-year varsity starter and two-time team captain at Brookwood HS in Snellville, Ga., Wysocki-Christ earned All-Gwinnett County Goalie of the Year honors in 2018 before moving to Florida for her senior year. She had a breakout year in 2017 as she was chosen as an Under Armour All-American Underclassman, distinguishing herself as one of the top goalies in the nation. Wysocki-Christ was selected to play in the Warrior National Prospect invitational. She also competed for Team Georgia in the Brine All-American National Classic in both 2016 and 2017. Her performance earned her a spot on the All-Star Team and a selection for The National Lacrosse Classic Brogden Cup. In 2019, she helped lead Gulf Breeze to a historic season, making it to the Elite 8 in the state of Florida. She was named the team MVP after posting a .586 save percentage. From the Coach: “Victoria comes from a lacrosse family and has a plethora of experience playing the game at a high level. She is tall, athletic and has a natural ability to see the ball and react. She is great at coming up with ground balls and interceptions, making her very dynamic in her position. Victoria carries herself with composure and shows maturity in her ability to direct and lead her teammates.” Mackinsey (Mack) Hamer Sophomore | Attack/Defense O’Fallon, Mo. | McKendree University / Francis Howell HS In her freshman season (2018) at NCAA Division II McKendree University, Hamer started every game as a defender for the Bearcats, who finished the season with a No. 23 IWLCA national ranking. During her senior year at Francis Howell HS, Hamer captained her team as an attacker, racking up 54 goals and 22 ground balls in 12 games. She was named Offensive MVP, First Team All-Conference and was an All-State nominee after finishing sixth in the state of Missouri in goals per game. Hamer also competed in varsity basketball, leading the team as captain and being selected to the All-Tournament Team and as First Team All-Conference. From the Coach: “Mackinsey brings great energy into our young program. She is positive, hardworking and has a tough mindset. She has experience at the DII level and will be looked upon for leadership immediately. Mack has experience on both ends of the field and will be able to be adaptable for the team. She has quick feet and shows good speed and agility, making her a versatile player for the team.” Danielle Farinas Freshman | Attack Boca Raton, Fla. | Saint John Paul II As a four-year varsity starter for the Eagles, Farinas received Second Team Palm Beach Post accolades and Second Team All-District honors in 2018 and 2019. She was a Sun Sentinel All-County selection following her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Farinas was also a standout on the soccer field, being named First Team All-County and Palm Beach County’s Player of the Year in 2019. She also was a kicker for the Saint John Paul II football team. From the Coach: “Danielle is a dynamic left-handed attacker that will help bring balance to our offensive unit. She has played on a competitive high school team with great success and has excellent natural athleticism. Danielle is expected to make an impact right away with her ability to feed and finish. She has excellent vision and quick reactions.” Sarah Shaffer Sophomore | Midfield Seneca Falls, N.Y. | Monroe CC / Mynderse Academy Shaffer was a First Team All-Region selection after helping Monroe CC to an undefeated season and an NJCAA National Championship in 2018. During her time at Mynderse Academy, she was a four-year varsity player and a three-year captain. She racked up over 100 career goals and was selected as an All-Greater Rochester Honorable Mention honoree. From the Coach: “Sarah is an incredibly tough team player who has great leadership abilities. She has been a key contributor on a National Championship team and knows what it takes for a team to be successful. She has amazing natural instincts as a player and a very high lacrosse IQ. She shows great strength on the draw circle and the attacking end where she is selfless in creating opportunities for her teammates. Sarah’s maturity and experience will make her an immediate leader and role model to the team.” Genevieve Clemens Freshman | Goalkeeper Idaho Falls, Idaho | Hillcrest HS As a four-year boy’s lacrosse varsity starter, Clemens has been selected as the Nitro Knights Most Valuable Player for the past four seasons. She played girl’s lacrosse for the Montana select club team. Clemens is also a decorated ice hockey player starting the sport at age four, winning a district championship for Team Idaho Ice Hockey and competing at Nationals. From the Coach: “Genevieve is as tough as they come. She is relentless in her competitive nature and has worked hard to overcome challenges in order to become the athlete that she is today. She has a great personality that will bring competitiveness, seriousness and fun together in our inaugural season. Gen has incredibly quick reactions to the ball and is used to facing very tough shots with her experience in the boy’s game.” Madison Park Freshman | Attack Clarksville, Md. | Atholton HS Park was a two-year varsity starter and was selected to captain the Raiders for the 2019 season. She was an offensive leader for Atholton both her junior and senior seasons. Park also competed in field hockey. From the Coach: “Madison is a wonderful and unique young lady. She has a very outgoing and warm personality mixed with a fiery toughness that creates a great balance for athletics. She is others minded, compassionate and driven. She will help to add depth and experience to our attacking unit and will be able to use her size and strength to produce offensively for the team.”   About the Fighting Knights Lynn University’s national champion Fighting Knights compete in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, softball, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and volleyball.
