by Daniel Mantzaris MCLA DIVISION I – TALLAHASSEE – After a commanding win over LSU on Friday night, the Florida State Seminoles rise to a confident 3-0 on the season.  Friday’s matchup versus #25 LSU concluded with the ‘Noles routing the Tigers 16-6, who fell to 1-5 this weekend after losing to UF in the Swamp 13-8. Beginning the season ranked #8 in the nation, the Seminoles are off to a fast start averaging 17 goals per game against opponents in 3 appearances.  This is a result of a high-powered and veteran offensive unit lead by Ponte Vedra standout and 2019 2nd Team All SELC Attackman, Reid Smith, who has 17 points through 3 games this season. After an impressive run ending with a loss to conference rival Georgia Tech in the MCLA Division 1 Quarterfinal last season, the Seminoles are looking to capitalize on a strong and experienced returning squad, paired with some sharp, new young talent and make repeat trip to Salt Lake City, UT for the MCLA National Championships. When asked for an outlook on the ‘Nole’s season after Friday night’s win over LSU, second year Head Coach Darby Brower said, “Year two has brought a whole new perspective and appreciation for this group of guys.  They are dedicated, motivated, and flat out love each other.  This is a team that is built for each other. We’re dangerous and not afraid to win games.” This Friday, February 21st, the Seminoles will face their biggest challenge yet at home versus the defending National Champions, #1 South Carolina.  Last year, the Seminoles fell 6-8 to the Gamecocks in a dogfight in Columbia, SC and are looking to redeem themselves.  Senior Captain and team President Noah Dearman is confident in his squad, however stating, “We’re the most dangerous team in the country right now.  The majority of our guys have played together for 3 or more years now and the chemistry this team has could not be stronger.” Faceoff of Florida State v. South Carolina is 8:00pm EST on Friday night and will be live streamed for viewing convince.
