NAIA Women: Webber Women’s Lacrosse Concludes Inaugural Regular Season at #7 Life (Ga.) With Loss

(April 14, 2021) – The Webber International University women’s lacrosse team finished up its first ever regular season of competition with a 23-2 loss at No. 7 Life University on Wednesday afternoon. Maria Horrell scored Webber’s first goal of the game with just over six minutes remaining, and then Megan Dennis scored with just under five minutes left. The Warriors have been led during their inaugural season by Dennis with a team-high four goals scored while Natalie Baumgarten and Kaitlyn Patterson have both added three goals apiece. Goalkeeper Ashley Bosch, who entered the game ranked 13th in the NAIA in saves per game (9.6) and 27th in total saves (48), finished with nine saves. Malia Domingo also helped lead the Warriors on the defensive side with three caused turnovers. With the loss, Webber fell to 0-6 both overall and in the Mid-South Conference during its inaugural season while Life improved to 9-5 and 4-2. The Warriors also finished their first ever season 0-3 both at home and on the road, and will now play on the road again during the MSC Tournament Quarterfinals. The Mid-South Conference is one of the strongest conferences in the country as it accounts for six of the top 15 spots in the most recent edition of the NAIA Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Poll. The MSC Championship is scheduled for April 22-24 in Williamsburg, Kentucky. This is the first year that women’s lacrosse has been elevated to a championship sport at the NAIA level.
