Oviedo 2022 Riley Finnegan Commits to Gannon University!

Congratulations to Riley on her college choice and good luck in the future! Name Riley Finnegan High School Oviedo High School Graduation Year 2022 College Choice Gannon University Club Affiliations Storm Select Lacrosse Why did you choose this college? When Gannon first contacted me, they were very straightforward and the coaches were exciting people that made me really become interested in the college. Since then I have been able to speak to both coaches many times and some players too and their welcoming and enthusiastic attitudes made me want to choose Gannon. They also have a variety of majors to choose from, a beautiful campus, and are in a great area with lots to do. What are your first memories of the sport? The summer going into 6th grade, I remember my sister training me up to be a defender because that was her position and I wanted to be like her. But when I went to my first practice with my first club team, the coach saw me and decided I would be a goalie, and I never looked back. What part of the process was most surprising to you about the recruiting process and what would you like to pass on to those who are going to face it in the future? I would say the most surprising part is how much the process speeds up when you get to your junior year. For those that will go through the recruiting process in the future, I would recommend that they really try to narrow down their requirements for a school way before their junior year so that you can make sure you’re marketing yourself to the right schools. Who would you like to thank for helping you get here? First and foremost my parents for supporting me in every way possible and being my rock throughout all of my years of lacrosse. I’d also like to thank my high school coach Scott Dean and all of my high school teammates, my club coaches Casey, Ann, Coach Mitch, and Coach Maurice and all of my club teammates, especially the ones that have been with me since I started playing for Storm in 2018.
