WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – After falling behind early 3-0 the Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrosse team made a valiant comeback before falling by one goal, 11-10, to No. 4 Colorado Mesa.

The Mavericks (7-1) scored three goals in the first 4:31 to take a commanding early lead but the ‘Fish were able to stop the bleeding and get back into the game. Blake Israel netted the first goal of the game for the ‘Fish in the middle of the first quarter, the lone goal in the quarter for PBA.

PBA put up five goals in the second quarter but CMU scored six times to take a 9-6 lead into halftime. Jackson Miller scored three times in the quarter and Brendan Fischer added two goals for PBA.

The ‘Fish outscored the Mavericks in the second half 4-2, but after Israel got his third of the game with 2:08 left the Sailfish were unable to find the tying goal. Ted Hollander and Trent Parker also scored in the half as Israel finished with three goals in the game to match Miller for the team high.

Ben Savick made 19 saves in goal for the Sailfish, often stopping shots from close distance. Savick along with Scottie McLeanPearse Brolly and Landon Johnson tied for the team lead with five ground balls.

The ‘Fish are back in action on Saturday as they host Embry-Riddle at 3 p.m. in the program’s first Sunshine State Conference game.
