PBA Men: Sailfish Defeat Emmanuel 14-9

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – After a slow start Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrosse got things moving in the right direction as the Sailfish defeated Emmanuel (Ga.) 14-9 on Saturday afternoon.

The Sailfish improve to 2-1 at home this year with the win and snap a three-game losing streak. Jackson Millerscored three goals – his highest output of the year – as PBA had eight players score in the game. Miller also added two assists to finish with five points.

The Lions took the early 2-0 lead, netting both goals within 1:10 of each other early in the first quarter. Ted Hollander scored his first with 5:58 to play in the quarter and Jordan Trowbridge added his first of the game moments later to tie the game at 2-2. Brendan Fischerscored a man-up goal with 2:31 to play to give PBA the lead for good.

The Sailfish added two more goals inside the final 10 seconds of the first quarter as Chrstian Daehler scored his second of the year and was followed by Hollander with just one second to play.

Miller scored two straight to start the second as PBA outscored Emmanuel 5-0 in the quarter to lead 10-2 at the break. Thomas Pinel added his first of the season in that second quarter and later added another later in the fourth.

PBA led 13-5 after three quarters before Emmanuel outscored the ‘Fish 4-1 in the fourth.

The Sailfish took a season-high 56 shots in the game and put 35 on frame. PBA picked up 52 ground balls, led by Alex Aken‘s seven. Thomas East added six as well as two caused turnovers. Ben Savick made 10 saves in goal for PBA and Gerrit Kurtycz made four in 10 minutes of action.

The ‘Fish are back in action on Wednesday as they host No. 8 Colorado Mesa at 5 p.m. at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
