PBA Men: Sailfish Fall Short In Opener Against Young Harris 14-12

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrosse suffered a close loss in their season opener on Friday afternoon, falling to Young Harris by a final count of 14-12. The game was played at Embry-Riddle University.

The ‘Fish got off to a slow start as Young Harris led 6-2 at the end of the first quarter. PBA was held to two goals in each of the first three quarters before exploding for six in the final frame. The Sailfish trailed 14-7 with just over six minutes to play but scored the final five goals but ran out of time to complete the comeback.

Seven different players scored for PBA in the game with sophomore Jackson Miller leading the way with five. Miller scored in all but the first quarter and notched three in the final quarter including the team’s lone man-up goal. The ‘Fish gave up three man-up goals in six opportunities while PBA converted just one in nine tries.

PBA was able to take nine more shots than Young Harris, firing off 45 with 28 on target. Townsend Brown tied Miller for the team-high for the Sailfish. Brown finished with two goals and two assists. Blake Israel added a goal and an assist as the only other player to record a multi-point game.

The ‘Fish won 18 of the 28 faceoffs with Landon Johnson claiming 13 and Corbin Schneider adding five. Johnson also scored a goal in the game. Ben Savick made 13 saves in goal for the ‘Fish.

PBA is back in action on Sunday at noon as they close out the weekend in Daytona Beach against Notre Dame de Namur.
