PBA: Men’s Lacrosse Falls Short Against #8 Saint Leo

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrosse couldn’t measure up to No. 8 Saint Leo on Thursday night, losing by a final score of 23-5.

The Sailfish fell behind 8-0 in the first quarter and trailed 14-1 at halftime. PBA scored two goals in each of the third and fourth quarters with Jackson Miller and Anthony Cresto each scoring a goal in both quarters. Brendan Fischer added his 10th goal of the season in the first half. Miller leads the team with 19 goals on the season.

Saint Leo got seven goals from Kyle Pauwels on the night. Pauwels came into the game 6th in the country in goals per game. The Lions entered as the top offensive team in all of Division II. Saint Leo outshot PBA 52-31 on the night with a 34-18 advantage on shots on goal.

Alex Aken led PBA with six ground balls with Derek Sanchez adding four. Ben Savick made four saves in net in the first half for the Sailfish before giving way to Marcus Lantier who made seven saves in 24 minutes of action.

The Sailfish are back in action on April 7 as they host Florida Tech at 7 p.m.
