PBA Sailfish Women’s Lax Picks Up Third Win

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s lacrosse picked up their third win of the season on Saturday afternoon, holding off the Yellow Jackets from American International to win 14-12.

Grace Bartlinski continued her impressive week, adding five goals to the six she scored on Wednesday. The sophomore’s biggest goal of the game might have been with the ‘Fish up only 8-7 early in the second half, Bartlinski scored off a pass from Kiki Cinotti to push the lead back out to two. The Yellow Jackets were never able to pull within one again.

Cinotti finished with a game-high seven points as she registered five assists and two goals Both Anna Laskarisand Shayna Rogers recorded a hat-trick with Rogers also picking up an assist. Julia Del Carmen also scored a goal and contributed an assist. Alyssa Yates was also credited with an assist.

The Sailfish grabbed a quick 2-0 lead before the Yellow Jackets were able to tie the game at 2-2 with 19:45 to play in the first. The teams traded goals before PBA scored three straight started on a man-up goal by Bartlinski. AIC scored the final two goals to cut the PBA lead to 7-6 at the break.

Early in the second half Del Carmen notched her goal as the ‘Fish played down a man. After AIC closed within one again at 8-7, the ‘Fish again scored three straight to push the lead out to four.

PBA took 32 shots in the game compared to just 23 for the Yellow Jackets. PBA forced 26 turnovers by the Yellow Jackets with both Olivia Warner and Lindsey Heffler being credited with two caused turnovers. Abigal Nehringrecorded eight saves in goal for the ‘Fish.

The Sailfish are back in action on Monday, March 11 as they host Oglethorpe at 7 p.m.
