Rollins Women: #7 Tars Sail by Chargers 16-7

(February 2, 2020) – The Tars finished their season opening road trip with a win, controlling the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers on their way to a 16-7 victory.  The Tars improve to 2-0 on the year, while UAH falls to 0-1 in 2020. Lily Rizk led the Tars for the second game in a row, scoring four goals and adding one assist for five points.  Caroline Gastonguay added two goals and two assists, totaling four points.  Gabby Tanner made 11 saves, while surrendering just seven goals. Hailey Gallant scored a hat trick for the Chargers, adding one assist for four points.  Cara Brown added a pair of scores.  Leslie Allen Brown tallied seven saves while facing 23 shots. The Tars scored the first ten goals of the game, taking a 10-0 lead with less than four minutes remaining in the half.  Maggie Dougherty scored the first goal, one minute into the game.  All four of Rizk’s goals came during the run. Hannah Coackley, Gastonguay, and Abigail Cawley also added to scoring.  Rollins led 11-2 at the break. Rollins and Alabama-Huntsville split the second half 5-5.  Hannah AshtonShannon PolkTaylor Kienle and Sammy Ottimo each scored to give Rollins a 15-4 lead with just under eight minutes remaining.  The Chargers went on a three goal run, but could not push the Tars, with Marina Longo icing the game away in the final minute.
