via Saint Leo press release   BOX SCORE SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 24 Saint Leo women’s lacrosse team remains undefeated as the Lions tallied their 10thstraight win of the season over Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday. The Lions defeated the visiting Chargers 17-6 to defend their home field at University Turf Stadium. Saint Leo earned a 7-4 halftime lead over Alabama-Huntsville led by Leslie Ferguson’s first stanza hat-trick. The Lions opened the second half with a seven-goal run, earning the running clock advantage (14-4) with 12:29 left on the clock. Alabama-Huntsville snuck in two goals before the clock ran out while the Lions put another three behind the net. “Everyone stepped up and did their job this game,” commented Head Coach Caitlin Hansen. “Injuries forced people to do different things than they have been doing all year and they rose to the challenge.” “The offense got it going against in the second half. It was nice to see Janee DeLuca light up the scoreboard.” Hansen concluded, “Our ride was once again a big factor. Kaylah Walstad and Leslie Ferguson caused a lot of turnovers that make it hard to keep up with us in the second half.” As a unit, the Green and Gold offense generated 37 shots over the visitor’s 24 takes. Saint Leo also won the draw control battle 14-11. The back line went 17-for-20 on clear attempts and forced 18 turnovers. The Lions picked up 37 ground balls over the Chargers 26. Stat Highlights
