via Saint Leo press release   SAINT LEO, Fla. – Head women’s lacrosse coach Caitlin Hansen has announced the first recipient of the Kelsey BurnsScholarship named after former Saint Leo women’s lacrosse standout Kelsey Burns. Incoming freshman Kaci Archer will be the first Saint Leo women’s lacrosse student-athlete to benefit from the generous donation from the Burns’ family. The Kelsey Burns Scholarship was created to be given to an incoming freshman who the coaching staff believes will be an impact individual in the classroom, embody Saint Leo University’s Core Values, and be a leader on the lacrosse field. Burns embodied all of those attributes while wearing the Green and Gold from 2013-17. She was a three-time All-Sunshine State Conference selection and graduated from the program as the all-time leader in points and goals. She was the first Saint Leo Lion to achieve 100 career goals. Kaci Archer is a freshman from Kingsville, Md., who will play in the midfield and attack for the Lions. She was a three-year captain at Perry Hall High School and scored over 100 career goals. She is one of four daughters of Michael and Kris Archer and is the third Archer sibling to compete in college athletics following in the footsteps of her sisters Brittani and Ali who played collegiate volleyball.
