Saint Leo: Women’s Lacrosse Starts Off 2019 Right; Defeats Rockhurst 15-8

  via Saint Leo press release   BOX SCORE   SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women’s lacrosse team downed Rockhurst 15-8 in University Turf Stadium to open the 2019 season. The Green and Gold jumpstarted the night with a six-goal lead from five different scorers. “I’m happy to get the first win under our belts. We saw a lot of opportunities to improve moving forward,” said head coach Caitlin Hansen.  Our two transfers, Janee Deluca and Ashley Salvett showed a competitive edge that we will need to be successful in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC).” Saint Leo (1-0) was paced by a three-prong attack in the form of junior transfer Janee DeLucaLexie Walstad, and Leslie Ferguson. DeLuca and Walstad each registered five-point performances. DeLuca scored three goals and a pair of assists while Walstad netted four goals and an assist. Ferguson also scored a hat-trick and tallied an assist to hand in four points. Erin Davis and Emma Crafton patrolled between the pipes. Davis earned seven saves in 37 minutes of work while Crafton recorded three saves in 23 minutes. Rockhurst’s (0-3) eight unassisted goals highlighted Marianna Anderson, Logan Derosia, and Hannah Miller each tallying a pair of goals. Molly Dunham and Kate McDonald shared the goaltending responsibilities each putting in 30 minutes of work. Hansen continued, “We are looking forward to Sunday, playing against another tough squad from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) in the form of Westminster.”   Stat Highlights
