Tars Dominate Lions Behind Pringle’s Seven Goals

  BOX SCORE WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 28, 2021) – Rollins led from start to finish, as the Tars dominated Saint Leo, 17-9.  The Tars won their fourth consecutive game, moving to 5-2 overall.  The Lions drop to 3-5 overall. Bailey Pringle starred for Rollins, setting a career high, and tying the school record, with seven goals.  Finn Jent tallied a hat trick, and Brandon Carlin added a pair of scores.  Ryan Dunn and Grant Long each tallied two assists.  Justin Isenhour caused three turnovers on the defensive side of the ball, while Connor Coltharp also forced three turnovers, as the Tars held the Lions to 15-21 on clears.  Patrick ThomasCody Iserman, and Trevor Dorfman each saw time in goal for Rollins.  Kyle SudolCam ReevesMark Ranieri teamed up to go win 17-30 faceoffs. Gino Riforgiato tallied two goals for the Lions, and added one assist to lead his team with three points.  Gunnar Luckoski and Chase Strait each saw time net for Saint Leo, combining for 19 saves. The Tars got off the bus ready for action.  Rollins poured in the first seven goals and led 7-1 at the end of the first quarter.  Ryan Dunn used a Brandon Carlin pick to beat his defender from behind the goal to get the scoring started.  Dunn assisted Connor Coltharp for Rollins second tally.  Bailey Pringle notched the next two goals, dodging by his defender for the first, and converting a fast break opportunity, with an assist from Grant Long for the second.  Finn JentMarshall Ellison, and Brandon Long each ripped unassisted scores to make the score 7-0.  The Lions found the back of the net once before the whistle sounded. Saint Leo tallied the first two goals of the second quarter, cutting the Rollins lead to 7-3.  The Tars responded with a pair of tallies of their own.  Jent netted his second, and Pringle completed his hat-trick to bring the lead back to six, at 9-3.  Each team would find the back of the net once more in the half.  The Lions scored their fourth, before Carlin ended the period, dodging down the ally and burying a shot to send the teams to the locker rooms with the score at 10-4. Rollins grew their lead to eight by the end of the third quarter.  The Lions found the back of the net first before Long fired a rocket low to high shot for the Tars first second half goal.  Saint Leo cut the score to 11-6 before Rollins rallied of a three goal streak.  Pringle started the run with a behind the back gem; Jent then completed his hat trick, and Parker Mosack registered his first goal of the game to make the score 14-6. Saint Leo registered the first two goals of the fourth quarter, cutting Rollins advantage to 14-8, but that was as close as the Tars would let the Lions get.  Bailey Pringle netted three straight to seal the game away.  Saint Leo recorded a consolation with 11 second on the clock, as the Tars sailed through the final whistle. UP NEXT: Rollins will return to the friendly confines of Barker Family Stadium to take on Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday, May 1.  Faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. Senior day festivities will be held after the game. Men’s Lacrosse Honors 10 on Senior Day; Lions Drop Home Finale to Tars

  SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s lacrosse program opened the home finale by honoring seniors: Collin StraitGunnar LuckoskiLiam MuellerJake LoveWill TomanDevin SparksJustin TaylorJordan WilliamsJack Spera, and Matt Shand. The 10 Lions were members of the first team from the State of Florida to represent the South Region in the 2018 NCAA National Championship. The run also captured the South Region Championship title and Sunshine State Conference Regular Season hardware. The following season, the Lions had another great showing as the SSC Tournament Finalists. Seven from the class opened their careers in 2017. Since then, the group has won 65-percent of the 63 games boasting a 41-and-22 record. The Green and Gold dropped a 17-9 decision to the Rollins Tars on Wednesday in University Turf Stadium. The Tars opened the game on a 7-0 run to hold the lead for the game. Beyond the opening run, Saint Leo and Rollins exchanged runs and matched scores in the second and fourth quarters. Gino Riforgiato earned a team-high three points with a pair of goals and an assist. Seven other Lions each broke through to find the back of the Rollins’ net. Faceoff specialist, Jordan Williams, went 13-for-29 at the X. Gunnar Luckoski defended the cage with 12 saves in the first 30 minutes of action. Entering after halftime, freshman Chase Strait earned his second career appearance. The Lake Mary, Fla. product earned seven stops. Records Rollins: 5-2, 3-2 SSC Saint Leo: 3-5, 3-2 SSC How It Happened Saint Leo closed the first quarter with its’ first goal of the night. Finding their rhythm, the Lions opened up the second quarter with back-to-back goals for a three-goal run, 7-3. The visitors knocked in two more, which was answered by Gino Riforgiato’s unassisted goal at 2:09, 9-4. The Tars won the face and slung one more in before the halftime break with a score of 10-4. Riforgiato’s second goal brought the gap back down to five at 11-6 with 10:36 left in the third. Despite the efforts, the Tars pieced together another three-goal run to end the third, 14-6. Peyton TysonLiam Mueller, and Matt Shand each recorded a goal in the fourth, but it would be matched by the Blue and White for a 17-9 final. Up Next Next week, Saint Leo will head to Tampa on Wednesday, May 5. The midweek conference contest is set to begin at 8 p.m. Following the rival game, the Lions will wrap up the 2021 season at Florida Tech on Saturday, May 8.
