Both teams entered into the game in a tie for fifth place on the latest IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll, announced earlier this week, marking the first time Rollins has ever played an opponent with the same national ranking at the time of competition. The win marks the second of the season for the Tars over the nationally-ranked Spartans, and advances Rollins’ record to 12-1, and 3-1 in Sunshine State Conference action.  The loss marks the first conference defeat of the season for the Spartans, halting a six-game win streak and dropping their overall record to 9-3, and 2-1 in SSC play. Rollins led the shot count, 31-20, earned more ground balls, 23-22, and dominated the game off the draw, winning 21-of-30 on the night.  The Tars also placed more shots on goal with 29 while the Spartans only placed 15 shots on cage. How it Happened: German got the scoring started by converting a free position shot at the 28:23 mark to give the Tars a 1-0 lead, but an unassisted goal by Staley evened the score at 1-1 a little over four minutes later, marking the only time the game would be tied throughout the contest.  The Tars then netted three straight to take a 4-1 lead with 19:07 on the clock, but saw the Spartans outscore them in the next 10 minutes, 3-1, to whittle their lead down to one, 5-4, with 9:38 to go before the halftime break.  Rollins was not about to back down, and scored four straight to close out the first half with a 9-4 lead.  The Tars continued to ride their overwhelming momentum over Tampa into the second half, outscoring UT 9-6 in the final 30 minutes of play to wrap up the game with a decisive 18-10 victory.
