#22 Women’s Lacrosse Offense Comes Alive at Lynn

  BOX SCORE SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 22 Saint Leo Lions took care of Lynn, 23-14, Saturday night in Boca Raton, Fla. The Green and Gold offense came alive as four Lions brought home hat tricks in the dominant Sunshine State Conference win. Saint Leo outshot Lynn 36-29 in the Lions’ offensive onslaught. Fiona McLaughlin’s six goals off seven shots registered the rookie’s fifth game putting together three or more goals in a single appearance. Lia Lamendola also broke out six-points, netting five goals and an assist, the sophomore attacker’s newest career-high performance. Delaney Chrisco dished out four goals while Ashlee Wilsynski whipped up a hat trick and two assists for five points. The celebrations continued as Gigi Moll recorded her first collegiate goal. McLaughlin, Chrisco, and Wilsynski each earned four draw controls for the Lions. Meanwhile, goalkeepers Emma Crafton and Rachel Smythe shared time in the cage. Crafton earned the win in the net after two saves in the opening 30 minutes. Smythe came in after the halftime break to earn a stop. Records Lynn: 1-5, 1-5 SSC No. 22 Saint Leo: 4-4, 3-3 SSC How it Happened A three-goal run lifted Saint Leo 3-1 over Lynn at 22:21. The Green and Gold held onto a decent lead until the Fighting Knights broke out their own trio to bring the game within one, 7-6. Wilsynski had other plans on how to close out the last six minutes of the first half. The sophomore attacker registered three points netting two and assisting in one to spearhead a five-goal run. The offensive burst was also propelled by a pair of goals by Lamendola and one by Chrisco. The run extended the Lions’ lead to 12-6 at the half. Saint Leo was able to capture the running clock advantage with a 10-goal lead at 9:59. Staying true to their name, the Fighting Knights continued to battle posting a four-goal run to slash the gap back down to six, 20-14. In the last 5:27 minutes of the game, Saint Leo sealed the deal with three more goals to tally the 23-14 final.
