The Florida College Scene: Another #1 Goes Down to a Florida School!

While we are busy crunching the high school numbers and preparing the previews (yes, I am still dedicating plenty of time to that!), we’ll go with a little more informal approach to our college coverage! LINK BOX SCORE And it’s the other two games last night that really garner the headlines, at opposite sides of the spectrum. In Boca Raton, it was the Debutantes’ Ball for the Lynn Women. And in Lakeland, the #8 ranked Women’s Moccasins took down #1 (and defending national champion) Adelphi 8-4! Wow!  Since it follows the Gators shocking take down of the Terps, this adds fuel to the fire of Florida lacrosse. (add in IL’s National Ranking of Ponte Vedra in the Top 25 of their National Poll too) Inside Lacrosse followed up that Terp Toss with a feature on Shannon Kavanagh, who scored the game winner late:

LINK BOX SCORE Patricia Werker with 11 saves on 15 shots! Down in Boca it was the opposite of the Lakeland Lashing . . . The first game in Lynn Women’s history didn’t end as hoped, with a Fighting Knights win.  But a festive atmosphere anyhow and a great introduction to the campus.  Large crowd, free food to the students, giveaways and fast-paced action. GAME RECAP LINK We were able to get interviews with the key threesome responsible for bringing the program forward: Not a bad day for our favorite sport for the Women in our state!
