UF Women: Four Gators Earn Weekly AAC Honors!

  via UF press release   GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After defeating No. 18 Colorado to open the 2020 season, four Gators earned nods from the American Athletic Conference, as the league announced Monday. Shannon Kavanagh was named AAC Midfielder of the Week – the 12th weekly conference award of her career. Cara Trombetta notched AAC Defender of the Week honors – the seventh league honor of her tenure at Florida. Both Sarah Reznick and Brianna Harris picked up their first weekly awards, with Reznick earning Freshman of the Week honors and Harris registering a spot on the Honor Roll. Kavanagh was tabbed as Midfielder of the Week after registering four goals, including the game-winner, against the 18th-ranked Buffs. She recorded two groundballs, two draw controls and caused a turnover in the win. The junior also extended her streak of consecutive games with a draw control to 35 – taking sole possession of the record. Trombetta earned Defender of the Week honors after holding one of Colorado’s top offensive threats – Charlie Rudy – to just 1-of-4 shooting. The senior also posted two ground balls and a caused turnover in the game, pushing her streak to 10 games and five games, respectively. In the first game of her career in the cage, Reznick recorded 11 saves, along with a .524 saves percentage against the Buffs. Along with that performance, she recorded two groundballs. Harris earned a spot on the AAC Honor Roll after recording a career-high five goals against Colorado. She went 5-of-10 shooting and notched a team-best seven draw controls. The redshirt junior also recorded a caused turnover in the game. Florida is back in action on Saturday against No. 1 Maryland in College Park, Md.
