UF Women: Gators Welcome FOJ Adoptee as Newest Teammate

via UF press release   GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators officially welcomed their newest teammate, Jada Turner, at a ceremony on Friday, held at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. In front of her family, newest teammates, UF PD and members of the community, Jada received her Florida jersey, a hat and gifts from the team. Jada and the Gators were paired together through the Friends of Jaclyn organization. “Jada is by far the strongest, bravest and most amazing person that I have ever come to know,” said head coach Amanda O’Leary. “We are so blessed that she has come into our lives and touched us in such an incredible way. “We love you Jada and we are so blessed that you are becoming a part of the Gator family.”
The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors or other childhood cancers. They also raise awareness through their Adopt-A-Child, Safe of the Sidelines and Guardian Angel Programs. As much as the team will help keep Jada in high spirits over the course of the season, the positivity and light that Jada brings to every situation will only lift the Gators as they enter into the 2019 season. “On behalf of the entire team, we feel like Jada is a little sister to us,” said junior Cara Trombetta. “She is so positive every day, and it just reminds us to be positive every day. This is a mutual relationship – we want to be here for Jada as much as she is here for us.” Florida opens its 2019 season on Feb. 9 at Colorado. Follow the Gators: #FLax Twitter Instagram Facebook
