GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two members of the Florida lacrosse team racked up US Lacrosse Magazine All-America honors, as the organization announced Monday.
Shannon Kavanagh and Cara Trombetta were selected to the 13-player First Team squad, made up of Division I women’s lacrosse players across the nation.
This is the first such honor for both Kavanagh and Trombetta, but they are no stranger to All-America accolades during their respective tenures at Florida. Each have been tabbed as both IWLCA and ILWomen All-Americans while donning the Orange & Blue.
During the shortened 2020 season, Kavanagh and Trombetta were both named to the Tewaaraton Watch List and each earned a spot on the ILWomen First Team Media All-America list.
Kavanagh picked up two national awards during the eight-game season in 2020, earning IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week and US Lacrosse National Player of the Week honors after her eight-goal performance in Florida’s 15-14 win over No. 1 Maryland.
Trombetta was a three-time AAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree, anchoring the defense to six wins in the shortened year.
