FIT: Modica Selected to IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star Roster

(Women’s Lacrosse) – On Friday, the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association announced that Florida Tech’s Allie Modica was one of the 44 student-athletes to be named to the roster for the 2017 Division II North-South Senior All-Star Game. Modica is the first player in Florida Tech history to be invited to play in the All-Star Game. The Vero Beach, Florida product was named an IWLCA First Team All-American recently, becoming the first student-athlete in program history to receive first team honors. She was also named a Second Team All-American following the 2016 season. In addition, Modica raked in three IWLCA All-South Region honors and was a three-time All-SSC First Team selection. Modica led FIT with 79 points this season on 57 goals and a team-high 22 assists. The senior also led the Panthers with 64 draw controls, while her 43 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers were third and fourth most on the team. She concluded her three-year career with 191 total points on 146 goals and 45 assists, to go along with 175 draw controls, 140 ground balls and 64 caused turnovers. A total of 132 women’s lacrosse players across DI, II and II were selected to play on either the North or South roster in the Senior All-Star Game. The game will be held on Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. on Saturday, June 3, 2017. The Division I teams will play the first game at 11:30 a.m., the Division II game will follow at 12:45 p.m., and the Division III teams will cap off the event with their game at 2:00 p.m. Admission for all three games is free of charge. The games will also be web-streamed live on IWLCA-tv.com.
