LOUISVILLE, Ky. –  Florida Tech men’s lacrosse graduate student Sam Balch has been selected to the USILA D2 Team of the Week after his performance in Tech’s 1-1 week.

This is the defenseman’s first Team of the Week honor this season and the second of his career.

Balch had an impactful week for the Panther defense last week, recording eight caused turnovers, five ground balls, and two assists. The Wilmette, Illinois native recorded a game-high five-caused turnovers and three ground balls against #8 Tampa. He became the only individual player to tally five caused turnovers against Tampa this season.

He then led the Panther defense with three caused turnovers and two ground balls in the 17-11 win against Palm Beach Atlantic. Balch also finished with two points on two assists.

The graduate students’ 30 caused turnovers this season rank fourth most in a season by any Panther and move him up the program’s career list, ranking second all-time with 74 career-caused turnovers.

Florida Tech is back in action this Wednesday, April 12 as the Panthers travel to Daytona Beach for an SSC matchup with Embry-Riddle. The contest is set to begin at 4 p.m.
