ST. AUGUSTINE — For the first time in program history, Flagler College head men’s lacrosse coach Brian Duncan has announced his inaugural 15-game schedule.

All home games will be played at the brand-new turf field, which will be shared with fellow first-year program women’s lacrosse, known as the Flagler College Lacrosse and Intramurals Field, which will be a part of the Flagler College Athletics Complex located on Old Moultrie Road.

The Saints will have eight games on the year to help break in the new field, with the first coming Feb. 4 against longtime rival Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for the program’s inaugural match under the lights at 7 p.m.

Duncan has Flagler playing a tough non-conference schedule, which will see the Saints sharing the field with some of the strongest programs in the nation. This includes matchups against Sunshine State Conference powerhouses Lynn University and the University of Tampa on March 16 and 22, respectively.

“This tough schedule will provide our team plenty of adversity to deal with in the regular season,” Duncan said. “We feel improvement comes through competition. We are excited to get out and grow together as an Ohana.”

Flagler also scheduled SSC opponents in Palm Beach Atlantic, Florida Tech, Florida Southern College, Rollins College and Saint Leo University. Flagler will hit the road for the first time to duel with the Sailfish on Feb. 12, and the Panthers of Florida Tech on Feb. 19. Flagler will welcome the Floirda Southern Moccasins to St. Augustine on Feb. 26. Flagler will remain at home for a battle with the Tars on March. 5, then will travel downstate to take on the Lions on Mar. 12.

In between their battles with Florida Southern and Rollins, Davenport University, a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC), will travel just under 1,200 miles from Grand Rapids, Michigan for a March 1 face off with the newly-minted program.

Flagler will close out its nonconference schedule by welcoming another national contender to St. Augustine. Colorado Mesa University will be making the trip from Grand Junction, Colorado as part of their own four-game slate in Florida.

The Saints, who will be competing as members of the Peach Belt Conference, open PBC competition against the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College on Apr. 2. The Saints will then travel north to Rome, Georgia, for a bout with Shorter University on April 9. Flagler will play another road PBC game against the Bearcats of Lander University on April 16.

The final home contest of the 2022 season will feature the Chargers of the University of Alabama in Huntsville as they make the trip down to St. Augustine on April 23. The regular season concludes on April 30 against Montevallo University.

The PBC Men’s Lacrosse Championships will be held from May 3-8 with the highest seed in each matchup earning the right to host. All six members of the PBC will qualify for the conference tournament.
