Flagler Women fall to Saint Anselm in non-conference Matchup

ST AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Katie Stubits scored two goals as Flagler College was defeated by No. 21 Saint Anselm, 16-5, Monday night at Flagler Lacrosse and Intramurals Field.

Flagler drops to 4-5 on the year while Saint Anselm improves to 2-0.

The Hawks jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first quarter. The Saints got on the board with just over one-minute left in the quarter thanks to Stubits’s first goal, which was assisted by Kenzie Dillon.

In the second quarter, Flagler’s offense. Scoring three goals to make the score 7-4 with just under five minutes left in the half. Flagler got goals from Ally MillerJordan Green and Jordan Shughrue. The Hawks netted two goals to end the half, making the score 9-4.

Saint Anselm pulled away in the third quarter, scoring five goals to extend its lead to 14-4 while keeping the Flagler offense off the board for the entire period.

Dillon, Green and Eva Stine each caused a turnover. Katelyn Trainor and Carly LaFerriere each scooped up five draw controls.

Saint Anselm was paced by Lexi Palmisano, who scored five times, caused a pair of turnovers and picked up a pair of ground balls. She also picked up three draw controls.

Flagler gets two days off before University of Virginia’s College at Wise to the Ancient City on Thursday for a 1 p.m. contest.
