ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College women’s lacrosse head coach Grant Kelam announced the squad’s 2023 schedule late Friday morning.

“We could not be more excited about the schedule that we were able to put together for our second campaign,” said head coach Grant Kelam. “Our goal is to continue to grow this program while promising the highest level of competition we can offer. The team is ready for a fun run at it!”

The 2023 slate features 12 home games, including a nine-game home stand stretch from March 4 through April 8. The Saints are set to play 14 games in the sunshine state and the other three games will be in three different states.

Flagler opens the season in Melbourne, Florida for a road game at Florida Tech Feb. 4. The team returns home for three straight games to face Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Feb. 11), Grand Valley State University (Feb. 16) and Lincoln Memorial University (Feb. 20) at Flagler Lacrosse Field.

The squad is set to play three 2022 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association top-25 teams, which includes Embry-Riddle and Grand Valley State. The Saints travel to Boca Raton, Florida to face another top-25 opponent, Lynn University, Feb. 25 before beginning their nine-game home stand.

“We were able to break the ‘first-year schedule’ mold playing host to six teams that were ranked in either of the two national polls and two more receiving votes in 2022,” added Kelam. “We wanted to keep that trend going. Our 2023 slate will feature a similar if not more rigorous challenge.”

Flagler hosts Concordia University St. Paul (March 4), Notre Dame College (March 7), and Holy Family University (March 10). The Saints then welcome Newberry College (March 14), Saint Leo University (March 18) and Palm Beach Atlantic (March 21).

The squad continues its nine-home-game stretch with the start of Gulf South Conference play, hosting Lee University March 26. Flagler then hosts Montevallo (April 1) and Young Harris (April 8) in conference match-ups to close out the long stretch of home games.

The Saints finish the regular season on the road with games at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (April 15), Shorter University (April 16) and Lander University (April 22).

Flagler is coming off an 11-8 inaugural season, going 4-2 in GSC play. The Saints qualified for the Gulf South Tournament and advanced to the championship in their first season but fell to Alabama Huntsville, 15-12.
