FLN Boys 1A Top 15 for the Week Ending 4/3/22!

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , , .

The big battle Saturday between St. Andrew’s and St. Edward’s (story later today) caused another flip at the top, as the Scots impressive road win gives them back the #1 slot. Bolles remains at #2 given SA’s overall resume versus theirs, although it is far closer than anyone would have thought a month ago. And SA hosts Ponte Vedra to end the season on Friday night in Boca, in a rare #1 vs #1 matchup.

Bolles captured two wins this week, with a big win over Episcopal School. They finish strong with road trips to Montverde on Tuesday and Oak Hall on Friday. St. Edward’s hosts Jensen Beach on Tuesday and travels to Lake Mary on Friday. No rest for the Top 3, that’s for sure!

Benjamin has earned a co-rating with St. Edward’s, as they continue their second half surge with a solid win over Oxbridge and they complete the home and home with Jupiter on Friday at home, looking to avenge the earlier season loss.

Oxbridge took a solid win of their own over Western-Davie and hosts Wellington on Friday. Pine Crest kept pace with three easy wins last week and should have no trouble with Boca Raton to end their season.

Jesuit had a 3-0 week, with an easy win over Calvary Christian (Clear), and solid wins over visiting Oak Hall and at Riverview-Sarasota. They should handle Berkeley Prep and All Saints Academy at home on Tuesday and Wednesday before traveling to Plant for Friday Night Lights to end their year.

Montverde moves up a slot with the 5-goal road win over Lake Highland Prep and they look forward to Tuesday as Bolles comes calling. Oak Hall slips a slot with the Jesuit loss, and they face a tough week with Ponte Vedra visiting Wednesday and Bolles coming down the highway on Friday.

Saint John Paul II came away with an easy win last week and finish with a trip to Wellington on Wednesday before hosting Gulliver on Thursday to finish the season.

Cardinal Mooney pulled out the OT win at home versus Canterbury and took down a visiting Ohio team, and they go to Gulf Coast on Tuesday before hosting LHP on Friday.

I’m keeping LHP at #12 with a losing record, after the home loss to Montverde and the road loss to Winter Park, but they really need a big win, as they host Creekside on Tuesday before the trip to Mooney. At some point you have to win a few of these games.

Holy Trinity Episcopal moves up to #13 with a 3-0 week, including a home win over Jensen Beach. They host Viera Tuesday (broadcast on the Brevard Sports Network on Facebook with a special guest commentator) and Timber Creek Thursday.

Community School of Naples has earned promotion to #14 with their own 3-0 week, with wins over Belen and Gulf Coast among them. They have a busy schedule this week, with Immokalee today, a trip to AH-Plantation Tuesday, and a home game versus Riverview on Thursday.

Belen fell a few slots into the three-way tie with Canterbury and Episcopal School. All three have basically beaten the teams they should and have not handled the better teams on the schedule well enough. AH-Plantation’s loss to Gulliver kind of exposed the bad schedule AH-P has played this year and they are back in the Also Considered list with returnees Bishop Moore, Gulliver Prep, St. Stephen’s, Jensen Beach and Westminster Christian. What all those schools have in common is that they don’t have a real signature win this season. Only Jensen, who travels to St. Edward’s on Tuesday, has that opportunity left.
