FLN Boys 1A Top 15 Poll for the Week Ending 3/13/22!

No move at the top of the poll as #1-#3 do not change. Saint Andrew’s with road wins over Pine Crest and Oxbridge (most of the time when Florida teams play top out of state competition I only take into consideration when they play well – this competition tends to happen when the visiting team is starting their season and we are already more than halfway through and kind of physically beat up) while losing to Texas champ Dallas Jesuit Saturday.

St. Edward’s was off this week and has a game of their own from Texas in Episcopal Dallas, plus a likely easy win over Pine School and Bolles was also off this week but takes a road swing to North Carolina this week to play three games.

Pine Crest played SA tough, but the schedule gets easy from here, with only Benjamin left for top competition. Oxbridge is in a similar situation, also hosts Episcopal Dallas and a friendly annual encounter between high school teammates with Canterbury. After this week they also get Benjamin as the tougher schedule is now behind them.

Benjamin is on a roll and came up with a very impressive OT win over St. Thomas and will move up the rankings because of it. We knew that given the strength of the Southeast in 1A that Oak Hall and Jesuit would have some slippage as the season went on and that is now occurring.

Oak Hall was a mild upset victim by Nease, and Jesuit did not play last week, nor will they this week. Oak Hall’s schedule lightens up until the end when they play Bolles and Ponte Vedra back-to-back.

Montverde came away with two easy wins, but their late schedule is massive, with two Maryland powerhouses up next.

Belen is still undefeated with an easy win last week and has three games they can handle but SJP is the following week and that will be very difficult for them. LHP split two games, with Lake Mary handling them and taking down their traditional rival Bishop Moore.

SJP took two this week, the cross-town rival in Boca Raton and an impressive win over visiting Cardinal Mooney. Mooney showed a lot of young talent in an impressive second half against Boca and they will be a handful the next two years when they mature physically.

American Heritage-Plantation stays unbeaten with two easy wins but without any sort of signature win this is far as I can go. Canterbury took the OT win over Community School so we’ll swap spots. The only school I considered moving up besides Canterbury was Jensen Beach, but I need to see more there. Holy Trinity lost out on a game with Hagerty but has Oviedo coming up down the line. They are off this week.
