FLN Girls 1A Top 10 for Week Ending 3-13!

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , , .

Well, spring break hasn’t done much for the polls this week and nowhere was that more true than in Girls’ 1A!

American Heritage-Delray went 3-0 on the week, with the wins over #3 Pine Crest, SJP II and 2A ranked Hagerty. An unusual weekday trip (again, thanks Spring Break!) by 2A #1 Bartram Trail to Delray comes tomorrow. Lord . . . Boys’ Latin-SA . . . Bartram Trail-AH-D within a couple of miles of each other. The Girls at 5:00 and the Boys at 7:00! Lax fans, you have your marching orders! #TAFTAG!

Lake Highland and Pine Crest are both looking to rebound from a loss, PC to AH-Delray and LHP to 2A Steinbrenner. Hard to drop either a slot when you face that twosome. Benjamin pulled off three easy wins against lesser competition and are off this week. St. Thomas looms the following week for them. The gap is closing but the total season profile keeps 2-4 intact.

The rest of the top 10 will not show change but I am going to recognize a few of the Also Considered teams this week as their records are sufficient for sharing the #10 slot with St. Edward’s. Naples will not be one of them because the weather caused them to postpone their game yesterday with Vero, which would have been a great way to show consideration at 6-1. Cardinal Gibbons is 6-0 but I have not seen enough on their schedule to get them into consideration; there are opportunities later in the season.

Episcopal had the week off and Bishop Moore’s game with LHP was postponed, but the Hornets did come off with a big win over a rapidly improving Pensacola Catholic.

St. Stephen’s went 2-0 on the week with a one-goal win over Manatee while Out-of-Door Academy garnered a win over Cardinal Mooney. SSE and Out-of-Door meet Tuesday.

South Fork with a solid win over Dwyer and now they face the late-season gauntlet, including at Palm Beach Central, at St. Edward’s, home to SJP and at Vero to end the season. Can they keep the ranking? St. Edward’s did not play this week.

King’s Academy and Saint Andrew’s have shown enough to get into that tie. SA is a remarkable turnaround story as they went 1-6 last year. Congrats to them for this improvement.
