FLN Girls Class 2A Top 10 Poll – 3/26/23!

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , , .

Two weeks to go in the regular season, and game results continue to roll in that effect both this polling AND the FHSAA power rankings.

If you haven’t watched any Who’s In/Who’s Out broadcasts on Varsity Sports Network, please do so. It will surprise you if you haven’t been paying attention.

It’s been playing on the network at Noon and 5:00pm, so check it out!

Here’s last week’s Poll:

FLN Girls 2A Top 10 Poll – Week Ending 3/19/23

1) Steinbrenner (7-1)

2) Bartram Trail (8-1)

3) Vero Beach (11-2)

4) Newsome (8-1)

5) Hagerty (7-3)

6) Lake Brantley (7-1)

7) Plant (6-2)

8) St Thomas (3-6)

9) Boca Raton (9-1)

10) Gulf Coast (7-2)

Also Considered:

Lake Mary (3-5), Oviedo (9-3), Viera (5-1) and Manatee (4-3)

Steinbrenner had a very interesting week, with a huge road win at LHP, and easy win at home versus Durant, and a loss to a terrific Ohio program. Only Newsome and Sickles remain for them.

Bartram Trail is on a heck of a roll, with a big win over SS&SA and their RotR big win over Ponte Vedra. The schedule still has 5 games, and they should run the table. The total resume is now enough to move them up to co-#1 with Steinbrenner.

Vero Beach lost their game to Stone Ridge and face a potential trap game with Lake Mary this week while finishing up with another out-of-state game plus a home tilt with Pine Crest to end their regular season.

Newsome took a close win over Phillips Andover and a big win over Bloomingdale, before falling by a goal at home to rival Plant. Four games on the schedule this week, including a trip to Steinbrenner.

Hagerty continues to roll, with a 3-1 week, the only loss coming to a powerhouse Milton (GA) team. Episcopal comes to town on Tuesday.

Lake Brantley glided past their only game of the week, and now faces a trip to St. Augustine this week and two games the final week with Viera and at Episcopal.

Plant took their rivalry game with Newsome as part of a 3-0 week, and has a big game with Ponte Vedra this week.

St. Thomas went north with the Boys team and lost two games to Long Island teams. They face a tough week with Benjamin, Pine Crest and Bishop Moore.

Boca Raton had the week off and should have no trouble winning all 3 games this week before facing South Fork and St. Andrew’s the final week.

Gulf Coast took their two games this week, including versus Riverview, and finishes this week with a trip to St. Stephen’s, and home games with Bishop Verot and Community School, a solid stretch to finish the year.

Lake Mary continues to miss out on that signature win and has a monster 4-game week coming with both Vero and Bartram. It’s crazy, but the last FHSAA rankings have them ‘first team out’; if they take an upset along the way, yikes . . .

On the other hand, Oviedo is #3 seed currently in the same region, but took a bad loss to Hagerty and a road loss to St. Augustine before rebounding with a win over Creekside. The final week road game at Lake Mary could really mean a big deal for both teams.

Viera fell to St. Edward’s and that hurts their seeding with the 1-1 week. A final week game with Lake Brantley gives them another shot at a top seed.

Manatee continued nicely this week with two wins, but the last two weeks don’t have much to help make their case for moving up.

No one else played their way into consideration this week.
