Four Gators Earn ILWomen All-America Honors

Danielle Pavinelli tabbed to Third Team; Emily HellerEmma LoPinto and Emma Wightman earn Honorable Mention nod

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four members of the Florida lacrosse team racked up another postseason honor as the ILWomen Media All-Americans were announced on Monday morning.

Danielle Pavinelli earned a spot on the Third Team, while Emily HellerEmma LoPinto and Emma Wightman were each tabbed as Honorable Mention selections.

This is the first ILWomen All-America honor for each of the four Gators, who range from a freshman to a senior. Heller, LoPinto and Pavinelli were each named to the IWLCA All-South Region First Team, while Wightman earned a Second Team All-Region accolade.

The Gators finished the 2022 season with a 17-5 overall record and a perfect 5-0 AAC record. For the ninth time in 13 years, the Gators were able to hoist both the regular season conference championship and the conference tournament championship. UF secured its 11th-straight regular season crown during the 2022 campaign and won its ninth conference tournament trophy overall and eighth-straight.  

In the sixth year of this award, ILWomen staff and contributors were asked to select four first-team, four second-team, and four third-team attackers and defenders, then three first-team, three second-team and three third-team midfielders, and finally one first-team, one second-team and one third-team draw specialist and goalkeeper. The teams were selected based on the cumulative total of votes received, with honorable mention honorees receiving more than one vote.

  • Ranks eighth in the AAC in draw controls per game (3.45)
  • One-time AAC Honor Roll selection in 2022
  • Sits second on the team in draw controls (76) and fourth in goals (31)
  • Recorded a career-high four goals and five points against Vanderbilt in the AAC Championship game on May 7
  • Tallied a career-high two assists Temple on April 23, to pair with her career-best seven draw controls in the game

Emma LoPinto | Fr. | Attacker

  • 2022 IWLCA All-Region First Team
  • 2022 AAC Freshman of the Year
  • 2022 All-AAC First Team
  • 2022 All-AAC Tournament Team
  • 2022 Tewaaraton Watch List 
  • 10-time AAC Freshman of the Week (program record & conference record)
  • Broke Florida’s freshman points record on May 5 vs. ECU – the previous record stood at 79 and has held since the first season of Florida lacrosse (Ashley Bruns – 2010)
  • Finished the season with a total of 97 points, putting her fourth in NCAA history for most points in a rookie campaign
  • Sits second in the AAC in total points (97), fourth in both points per game (4.41) and assists per game (1.55) and fifth in goals per game (2.86)

  • Ranks seventh in the nation in total goals (73) and 14th in free position percentage (.630)
  • Became Florida’s 19th 100-point scorer earlier this season 

Emma Wightman | Sr. | Defender

  • 2022 ILWomen Media All-American Honorable Mention
  • 2022 AAC Defender of the Year
  • 2022 All-AAC First Team
  • Two-time AAC Defender of the Week in 2022
  • Sits 19th in the nation with 1.73 caused turnovers per game
  • During the season, had a streak of seven-straight games with a caused turnover, putting her fifth in program history
  • Recorded a career-high six caused turnovers against Mercer on March 30
  • Ranks second in the AAC in caused turnovers per game
