Gerber Leads Warrior Offense to Victory over Crooked Lake Rivals

LAKE WALES, Fla. (April 9, 2023) – The Webber International University women’s lacrosse team defeat Crooked Lake rival Warner University Royals in a Sun Conference matchup 26-3. The Warriors (7-5 overall, 2-3 SUN) broke their program record for most goals scored in a game and saw several different goal scorers in the process.
 

Makayla Senter kicked off the match by scoring two goals in the first three minutes of the match. Shortly after, Bryce Gerber netted her first point of the match, which brought the score to 3-0 in the first five minutes. Following a free position goal from the Royals (0-13, 0,5), the Warriors put nine more points on the board, ending the first quarter at 12-1. Senter, Gerber, and Madison Hamilton all saw hat tricks before the start of second quarter along with Natalie Bartek and Sydney Britton scoring their first goals of the game.
 

Assisted by Alia Lloyd, the first goal of the second quarter came from Kaitlyn Patterson. The Warriors would not let off the brakes and would score four more points before halftime. Bartek and Ayame Macedo would score two of those goal man-down and went into halftime with a score of 17-2.
 

The Warriors held the Royals to one goal again in the third quarter and would net four for themselves. The fourth quarter was a shutout for the Warriors defense as the Royals put no points on the board. However, the Warrior offense saw goals from Britton, Senter, Gerber, and Patterson two times, finishing the game 26-3.
 

The Warrior offense was led by Gerber who tallied in seven goals and six assists for a season-high 13 points while Hamilton came in behind with four goals and three assists. Patterson, Bartek, and Nicky Greene led in ground balls with two each while Lloyd caused the royals to turnover the ball three times. Hamilton dominated the draw circle with nine draw controls while Maria Horrell and Gerber tallied in four each. Hannah Register spent 45 minutes in the cage making six saves and allowing two goals.
 

The Warriors will head on the road for their last conference matchup against Ave Maria University on Thursday, April 13, at 5 p.m.
