Gulliver Boys Name Erik Cartelle New HC!

via announcement

Here is the letter sent out to parents announcing the new head coach:

Dear Gulliver Prep Family,

I am excited to announce the hiring of Erik Cartelle as the new Head Coach for Boys’ Lacrosse.
The search committee and I were impressed with Erik’s passion and humility to lead the entire
Gulliver interscholastic lacrosse experience. In addition to coaching the varsity team, we have
asked Erik to develop the program to focus specifically on growth and development for lacrosse
student-athletes K-12. Erik is highly regarded both locally and nationally in the lacrosse
community, and with his detailed plan to move the program forward for our student-athletes set
him apart from our national candidate pool.

Coach Cartelle was the Varsity Defensive Coordinator this past season at Gulliver and helped
invigorate the program by putting emphasis on the values of discipline, accountability, attitude,
and effort. He previously held the same position at Christopher Columbus High School where
he was an influential part of the program and was also at Lawton Chiles HS in Tallahassee for
the 2020 season.

Erik is the founder of Miami Lacrosse Club (Miami Lax). The club is a regional affiliate of the
Florida Crabs, which gives their players further accessibility to vital resources to help propel
them to play at the next level. The program has never gone a season without reaching a
championship game at a club tournament. Miami Lax has helped develop many successful
lacrosse student-athletes, many of whom gained recognition from the Miami Herald’s All-Dade
Awards. He is also a Florida Crabs state coach for the Class of 2026 age group, which just won
the National Lacrosse Federation Club Championship this past weekend and is on the staff
representing the state of Florida for the Nike National Showcase.

Please join me in welcoming Erik Cartelle as our new Head Coach for Boys’ Lacrosse!

Sincerely,
Lazaro “Laz” Fernandez
Director of Athletics
