JU: Men’s Lacrosse Wins Fourth Consecutive Game With Victory Against UMass Lowell

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dolphins faced their first quick turnaround game with a midweek against The Riverhawks and turned in a total team effort to win by nine goals for the first time this season. In terms of firsts, JU surrendered the games first goal for the first time this season at the 13:35 mark of the opening quarter. Jacksonville responded just over 30 seconds later with a rip from Ethan Lamond. The two sides traded two more goals a-piece in the first quarter as both defenses surrendered equal opportunities to the other side.
From then on, it was all Dolphins. It only took 58 seconds into the second quarter for Max Waldbaum to find the back of the net, and two minutes later Waldbaum dished an assist to teammate Dylan Watson to expand the JU lead up to two. After a quick Riverhawks goal, JU finished the half scoring four consecutive times, with Jacob Greiner leading the way with two goals. Jacksonville carried a five goal lead into halftime
UMass Lowell opened the second half with a goal just 90 seconds into the quarter. Jack Taylor and Tucker Garrity then scored 13 seconds apart in response, but that was all for the offense in the third quarter.
JU started the fourth quarter with a six goal lead, and two quick fire shots from Watson and Taylor saw the lead grow to seven. After a Riverhawks goal in response, JU scored three of the last four goals to clinch the victory.
COACH’S COMMENTS
“Today was not a reflection of who we want to be,” said head coach John Galloway after the game. “While we are happy with a win, I believe our standards of behavior are much higher. I look forward to going back to work tomorrow.”
“Credit to Lowell and their staff,” further added Galloway. “I believe we were out coached and out hustled.”
I continue to be proud of our toughness on offense led by Brandon Galloway, Max Waldbaum and Jack Taylor,” continued Galloway on his teams overall effort on offense. “However, we will need a lot more to achieve our ultimate goals.”
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Freshman Jack Taylor recorded his second hat-trick of the season.
Seven Dolphins recorded at least two points, with five scoring at least twice.
Three Dolphins in Jack Heed, Brandon Galloway and Connor MacDonald caused at least two turnovers.
