via JU press release, by Marty LaFica

GAINESVILLE, FLA. – Following their victory in this year’s ASUN Championship which secured them an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, Jacksonville Women’s Lacrosse travels back to Gainesville on Friday where they will battle Stanford in round one at 7:30 pm.

The Phins learned this past Sunday night that they will be returning to the University of Florida for round one of the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row, and sixth all time, this time to battle a brand-new opponent in Stanford.

WHO

Stanford enters Friday’s match at 12-6 overall, and as Pac-12 Champions after defeating both Oregon and Arizona State in this year’s conference tournament in which they won both games by a combined score of 39-21. Throughout their regular season, Stanford has secured notable victories over Arizona State, Colorado, and Southern California twice.

The Cardinal and Dolphins have never faced each other before, but their only mutual opponent of the season, Southern California, lost to Stanford twice while beating JU in their lone match in mid-February.

WHERE AND WHEN

University of Florida will serve as the host for JU’s first round matchup with Stanford, and the match is set for a 7:30 pm opening draw from Donald R. Dizney Stadium on UF’s campus.
