JU Women’s Lacrosse Comeback Falls Short Against #4 Denver

Jacksonville, Fla. –  Jacksonville women’s lacrosse fell to Denver 12-7 in the afternoon match-up.

HOW IT HAPPENED 


Denver kicked off play with a pair of goals before Jacksonville was able to get a shot off. Lauren Craft earned the Dolphins’ first goal of the game to make the score 2-1. Denver then went on to score four unanswered goals and extend their lead. Sarah Elms answered back for Jacksonville when she hit the net and see the score 6-2. Jacksonville and Denver scored once each later in the second quarter to end the half 7-3 Denver. 

Jacksonville came out fired up in the second half of play. To start the third quarter Molly Brock hit net with a free position against Denver to earn the first goal in the Dolphins favor. Grace Hobson notched a goal shortly after to close the gap in the 7-5 score. Denver managed to get a shot on net to end the third quarter 8-5 Denver.

The Dolphins gained momentum at the start of the fourth quarter; Molly Brock earned her second goal and  first goal of the quarter. Sarah Elms netted a second goal  soon after for the Dolphins to battle back and close the gap now 8-7 Denver. Despite the built up momentum, the Pioneers went on to score the final four goals of the half to close out the game. The final score of the match-up was 12-7 Denver.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Addy Tysdal nabbed her 200th career save.
Sarah Elms earned her 300th career point.
Kayla Stasulli had three draw controls.
