No. 1 Keiser University got into a battle with St. Andrews on the road on Tuesday before pulling away in the second half for the win, 17-13.

First Quarter
Keiser 4, St. Andrews 3

  • Madison Andrews got the scoring started in the contest with a goal at the 12:42 mark.
  • Hayley Frew and Melanie Brown followed suit to put Keiser up 3-0 with 7:05 remaining in the first.
  • Back-to-back goals brought the KU lead to 3-2 with 5:20 showing.
  • Andrews found the back of the net again with 3:45 left before SAU scored to bring the game to 4-3 with KU ahead going into the second

Second Quarter
Keiser 8, St. Andrews 6

  • Back and forth scoring throughout the second period saw both sides scoring three goals each, with Mia Dyson and Leanza Gibaud netting their first goals of the year.
  • With just seven seconds left in the half, Lena Finkelstein scored to put Keiser up 8-6 going into halftime.
Third Quarter

Keiser 14, St. Andrews 10

  • The Seahawks took the early initiative in the third quarter of action.
  • Rachel McLaughlinMelanie Brown, and Hayley Frew all tallied goals just over three minutes into the second half to propel KU ahead 11-6.
  • The Knights scored the next three of four goals in the period to cut the Keiser lead to 12-9 with 4:15 remaining.
  • Frew was able to find her hat trick goal in the third period with 2:38 showing to put KU ahead 13-9.
  • Following an SAU goal, McLaughlin scored the final goal of the period with 1:24 on the clock to give the Seahawks a 14-10 lead heading to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter

Keiser 17, St. Andrews 13

  • Valeria Lomaglio scored her first of the contest to open the fourth quarter scoring for Keiser and bring Keiser ahead 15-10.
  • McLaughlin earned her hat trick between two Knights goals at the 12:42 mark.
  • Lomaglio put the Seahawks up 17-12 with her second goal and 8:02 left in the game
  • The Knights scored with 2:35 left but it was not enough as Keiser finished with the 17-13 victory.
